Contrary to tropical plant waters, most tap-water has large nutrient deficiencies. Many important plant nutrients and trace elements are missing, extracted from the water during treatment at the waterworks. In order to ensure healthy plant growth in the aquarium, the nutrient deficiencies in the tap-water have to be. supplemented so that good "aquarium water" is derived from tap-water. For this purpose it is critical that the nutrients are in a very specific ratio to one another. Several "critical nutrients", in particular iron and some trace elements, present special problems in solving this task; they are required in only minute quantities. In larger doses their effect is toxic. In aquaria they cannot not be administered for days and weeks in advance, for example at water changes. The situation is rendered more serious if various trace elements are not only being consumed by the plants but also being precipitated by chemical reactants. This has always presented a very difficult problem in the field of aquarium keeping. The AAS Chemical Dosing System solves many problems of plant nutrition in aquaria.
The AAS Chemical Dosing System employs a compact Diaphragm pump which has an adjustable stroke frequency that can be set to deliver up to 33ml/minute with a dry suction lift of up to 6.6 feet. The pump may be added to your system at any time. The dosing pump enables exact dosage of your favorite daily fertilizer or pH Buffering Solution with precise timing. The dosing pump is, as with all our options, controlled by the AAS CPU Controller and is set up via the AAS User Interface.
