AMACS Sample System

Automated Aquarium Systems has teamed up with ICP DAS, one of the industry's leading suppliers of Personal Computer based Data Acquisition products, to provide our customers with an unbeatable Data Acquisition and Control System. When you consider the factors of cost, performance, flexability, reliabilty, networkablility, upgradability and quality then our AMACS will be your choice for Aquatic System Data Acquisition and Control. By using ICP DAS' 7xxx series of RS-485 Input / Output Modules with our own Windows Software ToolPak, AAS is able to supply our customers with a winning combination. Below is an outline of one of our recently shipped AMACS systems. This system was ordered as a DIY AMACS Kit with the option of having AAS assemble and test it.

OVERVIEW:
Design an AMACS System that can sensor acquire data, monitor set points, graph data, and alarm for the following parameters; Water Temperature, pH, ORP, Air Temperature and Relative Humidity. This system should also be able to monitor for both Low and High Water Level in a sump using float switch sensors. Finally, the system should monitor a Flood Sensor for alarming and emergency shutdown.

CONTROLLER:
The system controller for AMACS is a Windows 9x or XP OS Personal Computer with one available RS232 serial port. Communications with the 7000 series DAQ and Control Modules is provided by the AAS Low Cost RS232 to RS485 Converter. The RS485 serial data bus is a 2-wire bus that can support up to 32 addressable 7000 Series Modules. This expansion capability provides for unlimited data acquisition and control. The RS485 bus can support cable lengths of up to 4,000 feet so distance is not a problem.

SOFTWARE:
The software for AMACS Systems is implemented in Visual Basic. The AMACS Software and Hardware ToolPak provides a ready to run executable program to start acquiring data out-of-the-box. Also provided are over 10,000 lines of source code on which the customer can edit and freely copy to meet their individual needs. Sample source code is provided for data logging, alarming, email notifcations, control signals, trend charts and much more. With the ToolPak anyone with basic programming experience can create a custom data acquisition and control system for an endless amount of applications.
