DESCRIPTION:

The 7188E2 Ethernet to RS485 and RS232 Communications/Controller Module is one solution for providing PC I/O to our RS-485 Aquatic Monitoring and Control Systems We also provide PC I/O solutions for USB, and for RS232, or go direct via RS485 if you wish to use other PC ports to control your aquatic systems. The 7188E2 module provides one on-board 10BASE-T port that is driven by an NE2000 compatible Ethernet Controller. The 10BASE-T port is equiped with a standard RJ-45 connector. The 10BASE-T supports a maximum of 100 meters of CAT-5 cable (22 to 26 AWG) between Hubs or other devices. Simply use two straight-thru cables, one cable connects to the 7188E2 and the other connects to your Hub the other cable from the Hub to your host PC(s). Once the 7188E2 converts to RS485 then you have a limit of 4000ft of twisted shielded 2-wire cable for your RS485 Network to integrate the 7xxx modules.

The 7188E2, Internet Communication Controller, focuses in communication applications. According to different embedded firmware and application program, the Internet Communication Controller can be used as Device Server or Addressable Ethernet to RS-232/485 Converter or Embedded Internet/Ethernet Controller.

The 7188E2 Can be used as Addressable Ethernet to RS-232/485 Converter Most RS-232/485 devices don't support device address. The 7188E2 can assign a unique address to any one RS232 device installed in the Ethernet network and to as many as 256 7xxx modules on it's RS485 Bus. The Host-PC can then send commands with the device address to Ethernet network, the addressed 7188E2 will remove the address fields & pass the other fields of command to its local RS232 device (ie our Serial LCD) and local RS485 Devices (ie our 7xxx Modules). The response of the local RS232 device and the addressed RS485 device will be passed back to the host-PC via the Ethernet. And of course you can have multiple 7188E2's on your Ethernet network. This provides for the ability to have 1000's of data acquisition and control points!

The 7188E2 Can be used as Embedded Internet/Ethernet Controller The user can use well-developed libraries and demo programs to implement an Embedded Internet/Ethernet Controller.
